Upload your website at Hostinger

hPanel

Hostinger's File Manager lives in hPanel. A new Hostinger site starts with a "You Are All Set to Go!" placeholder (default.php) that you delete first.

Watch it first

42 seconds, with narration. The steps below say the same thing in writing.

Before you start: download the zip from the link in our email and keep a copy. Have your hosting login ready. Allow about fifteen minutes.

STEP 1

Open the File Manager

  1. In hPanel go to Websites and select Dashboard next to your domain.
  2. Select File Manager in the left sidebar (it opens in a new tab), and open public_html.

No File Manager? The site was made with Hostinger's Website Builder, which can't run uploaded files. Reply to our email and we'll host the site for you instead.

STEP 2

Clear out the old site

  1. Only default.php there? Right-click it → Delete.
  2. An older site there? Create a folder old-site and move everything into it (or delete it if you have a backup). A WordPress site's .htaccess and index.php must go.
STEP 3

Upload and extract

  1. Select the ↑ Upload icon (top right) and pick the zip.
  2. Right-click the zip → Extract.
  3. In Choose folder name type public_html (the folder you're in), tick Overwrite existing files, and select Extract.
  4. If the files land in a new subfolder anyway: open it, select everything, Move it up to public_html, then delete the empty folder. Delete the zip.

Check: index.html must be directly inside public_html.

Check it works

  • Open your domain in a private window (or press Ctrl+F5) so you don't see a saved copy of the old site.
  • Click through every page, and send yourself a test message from the contact form: it goes to the email you gave us.
  • Padlock missing? Usually automatic. To check: Websites → Dashboard → search the sidebar for SSL → Install SSL if it's offered.
  • Old site still showing after a few minutes? Clear the host's cache. Dashboard → Cache Manager → Purge All; with the CDN on: Performance → CDN → Flush cache.
  • Everything works? You can delete old-site later, once you're sure. And update your website on Google: Google Business Profile guide.

Stuck?

  • Read common problems first: most fixes take a minute.
  • Your host's own support team can do the upload for you in a few minutes: send them the zip and say "please put these files in my website's web root".
  • We don't log into hosting accounts, so we can't do the upload for you. If you'd rather not deal with it at all, reply to our email: we can host the site for you on a small monthly plan instead. hello@moxywebstudio.com
